Latest News from the Philippines!
On November 2, 2007, 11 year old, Marianett Amper (shown on the left), kills herself with a nylon rope, many blame poverty as the reason. The case put a human face to poverty blighting the nation, where nearly 14% of the population live on less than a dollar a day. Child United hopes to end the cycle of poverty by providing children with opportunity.

In the News
Our most important mission is to make sure more people know about the devastating conditions in the Philippines. Child United is make headway! Philippine Fiesta, a northern California newspaper, featured Child United and its plight to help children in the Philppines in its November 12th issue. KOMO Radio 1000 did a spot a couple months ago about Child United's founder, Christine Umayam, and her reasons to start the organization. You may hear the spot on the website. Child United is securing more interviews with local Seattle newspapers and television stations! If you know ways to reach more people, please email childunited@childunited.org. |

How We're Helping
So far, Child United has collected several refurbished computers to help supply a library (check Repair, Rebuild and Renew Schools program) at an elementary school in Calsib, Pangasinan, Philippines. We will be traveling to the Philippines this spring where we will hand deliver the computers to the school. We are also collecting children's books to supply the library. In addition, Child United has collected donated items such as clothes and toys. All items will be delivered in the spring. Thank you for your support! |
